Music, Math, and Roots

Today was a busy and fun day. We walked over to Memorial Hall to rehearse for the spring concert. Mrs. Burton led the songs with enthusiasm and the first graders sang beautifully. It was such a lovely day to walk around Melrose.

In math we reviewed solving word problems using all the steps and strategies. Students worked in pairs to solve these harder two step problems.

In science we looked at the bean in the bag and made hypotheses as to why they were not growing and why they were growing strangely. Then we looked at the different plant roots and talked about why they might have adapted in that way. Students enjoyed taking a singing break for our plant songs.
