Fact or Opinion

This week we have been working on fact and opinion. We did shared reading of a text called "Dogs are the Greatest."  Together we figured out which sentences were fact and opinion. Then students wrote one fact and one opinion about rabbits. This was a great team work activity. We then sorted the sentences. Today students read a story about cats with a partner. They highlighted the fact and opinion sentences. Next we broke into two teams to give reasons on indoor vs. outdoor recess. Tomorrow students will begin a first draft of their opinion piece.

In reading we have started reading folktales. This afternoon students read a tall tales and will be making stick puppets to share what they have learned.

In math we began the Geometry unit. Today we read the "Greedy Triangle" and discussed the attributes of the different plane shapes. Students practice fluency every day as a warm-up. Today it was a doubles plus one spinner game.
