This week we have been learning about why there is no school on Friday and what the holiday of Veteran's Day honors. We have sung patriotic songs, read a ReadWorks passage, recited a poem, watched a power point, and colored a picture of someone in the military. We discussed, using the "turn & talk" strategy, what the words brave and courageous mean. We also discussed what patriotism is and how we can be patriotic.

This week in math we have been practicing doubles and doubles plus one along with our other addition and subtraction strategies. As we get toward the close of the unit we are focusing more on word problems and problems relating addition and subtraction using missing addends.

In reading we continue to focus on retelling the story with sequence and including character and setting. We discuss vocabulary and problem/solution. We continue to work to find text evidence for our answers by coloring the sentence where the answer is found.
