First Day Fun!

What a great day we had in 1A! This morning we had morning meeting and a chance to share something from summer. I shared my "all about me" photos and items. Students will have a turn to share an item next week. After that we played a game called "Meet Me in the Middle." Then it was time to unpack all the supplies and sort them. While we did that students colored their first day picture and wrote the alphabet on the apple paper.

For reading, I read and we discussed "Wemberly Worried." Students discussed their own feelings and we made a graph of how we were feeling this morning. Many were happy or excited and two were tired. This morning we had an extra recess!!

At 11:00 it is the midday recess and lunch. Students were introduced to eating in the cafeteria by Mrs. Caruso.After lunch we had math centers with an opportunity to explore the manipulatives. Students practiced cleaning up and switching between centers.

At 12:30 it was time for afternoon snack and recess. When we returned inside we had read aloud and discussed the Bucket Filler book. Students wrote and drew ways to be bucket fillers and dippers.

Before going home students in 1A went on a classroom scavenger hunt.

I am looking forward to a fantastic educational and fun year. What a great job the students did listening an following directions.
