Students did experiments to learn about their rock. We did: sink/float, scratch testing, measurements, and determined if the rock was shiny or dull. Then we collected the data from our experiments using tally marks. Finally it was time to create our pet rocks.Students used many craft supplies to create a unique rock pet. Tomorrow students will be writing to describe their rock and tell about the things it "likes" to do. Some ideas we came up with were: hopscotch, making a rock wall, scuba diving, rolling down a hill, and changing forms. I can't wait to read these creative stories.
