It has been a great week so far. I saw many students at the 9:30 Mass on Sunday. Monday was game day. We played Pop-up with Fundations words, Splat (sight words), and Vowel folder games for ELA. In Math students rotated through centers to play Sum Swamp, Double Shutter, Coin Bingo, and a 100 chart game. During Religion we played CSW Bingo using our religion vocabulary.
Tuesday was community service. We made beautiful Valentine's Day cards for the sick and elderly.
We have been brain-storming a list of 100 Acts of Kindness.
Last night was the school Open House. Students in 1A shared our "morning meeting." They read and edited Mrs. Cunningham's letter, did calendar, and number of the day place value blocks. Students showed off their mathematical thinking by creating equations and coins for the date. We ended our presentation with poems and songs. These included:" I'm a Little Penguin," "The Money Song," Coin Poem, "Solid Figures," "Warm Mittens," and "Mr. Groundhog." Afterwards students shared their writing notebooks and poetry journals with their guests.
Today we really enjoyed seeing the 8th grade GeoPet projects. They were absolutely amazing! Tomorrow is sports spirit dress down and Friday we get to visit with our 6A buddies.
